Depend has been doing what some might call an uncomfortable campaign for a couple of years now. They have been telling folks for about a year to drop their pants to bring awareness to light bladder leakage. I know men suffer from the same issue but so do many women. Especially after giving birth, things just don’t always go back where they are supposed to go. This Depend LBL Awareness has been successful so far raising already well over 1 million dollars!
This year I am challenging myself and my fear of heights with a couple of amazing press trips. Just in case I am wondering if I should pack my own set of Depend Silhouette’s and share them with all my other mommy bloggers to also help bring awareness to this issue. LBL is not just a syndrome that comes with age but it is a true issue.
Imagine the following things:
- You are out with your girlfriends at dinner and you start laughing so hard!
- You have an unexpected sneeze.
- You decide to attend a new workout routine with lots of running and jumping.
So…maybe you leak just a little bit with a few dribbles here and there. Depend is trying to raise bladder leakage awareness of this issue because lots of people have issues with this. Nothing to be super shy about, it happens!!! It is more common than you think. My best friend who is a personal trainer and fit-her.com have had a conversation about the bladder leakage and how she altar’s her workouts because of it. She said, “I think it’s important to talk about LBL and to talk about the different ways to handle it. Doing appropriate pelvic floor exercises and wearing a pad to prevent the embarrassment that LBL can cause. We do tend to stay away from jumping jacks and jump rope for that very reason.” We have also discussed that if you have had kids, you have probably had issues.
This post alone isn’t going to be enough to raise money for research and awareness of bladder leakage so Depend has made a deal! They are going to donate $1, up to $3 million! That is a lot of money and Depend is going to make you work for it. They are going to give $1 for:
-Every pant drop, photo and video shared Using #Underwareness and #DropYourPants; and
-Every personal video made about what Underwareness means to you that is uploaded to YouTube and tagged #Underwareness and #DropYourPants
